Durante il suo viaggio da Bruxelles a Roma nel 1655 la regina Cristina di Svezia soggiornò due giorni nell'abbazia di San Michele a Siegburg, sebbene la presenza delle donne fosse interdetta dalle regole di San Benedetto. L'abbazia fu gravemente danneggiata durante la Guerra dei 30 anni. La regina fu testimone del progetto di ricostruzione dell'abate Johan von Bock.
