Il Parco Naturale della Zona Vulcanica di Garrotxa comprende l'area vulcanica di Olot ed è caratterizzato da una quarantina di vulcani estinti. Sebbene i vulcani siano estinti, l'area è ancora molto attiva dal punto di vista sismologico. Nel 1428 un forte terremoto provocò circa 20 morti a Barcellona, che si trova qui a quasi 100 km di distanza.
