Nel 1336 una fanciulla ricoverata nello spedale detto di S. Donnino o S. Lorenzo fu miracolosamente guarita da una lunga infermità per intercessione della Beata Vergine. Dopo il miracolo l’aula dello spedale fu trasformata in oratorio; ma nel secolo XV fu edificata al suo posto una nuova chiesa dedicata a S. Maria delle Grazie, detta anche del Letto, perché in essa è conservato il letto della fanciulla miracolata.
