Gli arabi costruirono una fontana presso una fonte d'acqua nella frazione di Alqamah, descritta già nel 1154 .
Un forte terremoto, avvenuto alla fine del XIV secolo, sembra aver danneggiato la fontana, che venne successivamente ricostruita. Con il trasferimento della vita urbana attorno al castello, sorse un'attività di pastorizia attorno alla fontana , creando la necessità di costruire un abbeveratoio . La facciata presenta due lavandini, due scarichi per l'acqua (cannoli) e lesene sormontate da capitelli. La vasca, in pietre di travertinoide calcarenite, fu realizzata nella prima metà dell'Ottocento.
