Hurwenen è un paese situato sulla riva sud del Waal nella Bommelerwaard, a pochi chilometri a est di Zaltbommel. Hurwenen ha 680 abitanti. Hurwenen faceva parte del comune di Rossum dal 1811 al 1821. Dal 1 gennaio 1818 al 1 gennaio 1821, anche Heerewaarden faceva parte di questo comune. Dal 1 gennaio 1821 al 1 luglio 1955 Hurwenen era un comune autonomo. Il 1 luglio 1955 Hurwenen ha nuovamente formato un comune insieme a Rossum. Dal 1 gennaio 1999 Hurwenen fa parte del comune di Maasdriel.
