La strada si estende tra l'A37 e il confine tedesco presso Schoonebeek. Come indicato dalla misurazione in ettometri, la N853 inizia poco a nord dell'A37 all'incrocio con la Verlengde Herendijk. La strada si chiama lì Dikkewijk. A Nieuw-Amsterdam la strada si chiama Vierslagenweg. Vicino a Schoonebeek, la strada si chiama Nieuw-Amsterdamseweg. Dalla rotonda di Schoonebeek, dove la strada incrocia la N863, fino al confine, la strada si chiama Lauensteinstraat. Dopo aver superato il confine presso il Schoonebeker Diep, questa diventa la L44b tedesca e lì si chiama Ossestraße. Il primo comune sul territorio tedesco è Emlichheim.
