Nell'area di 234 ettari di Noordhout, già boschiva nel XIX secolo, si trovano alcuni campi storici e una monumentale casetta di caccia risalente al 1852. A quel tempo, l'ambiente era composto da terreni incontaminati. Una parte di Noordhout è stata designata come riserva forestale e non è accessibile al pubblico. Qui i processi naturali possono avvenire indisturbati. L'8 ottobre 2013, vicino alla casetta di caccia, è stato inaugurato l'Ecoduct Mollebos sopra l'autostrada A12 e la linea ferroviaria Utrecht - Arnhem. Gli animali possono così muoversi tra la parte meridionale e quella centrale del Utrechtse Heuvelrug.
