Sint-Niklaas is een centrumstad in de Belgische provincie Oost-Vlaanderen. De stad is de hoofdplaats van het gelijknamige bestuurlijk arrondissement en wordt door velen gezien als de hoofdstad van het Land van Waas. Sint-Niklaas heeft een oppervlakte van 84,19 km² en telt ruim 80.000 inwoners , die Sint-Niklazenaars worden genoemd. De bijnamen van de Sint-Niklazenaren zijn oliezeikers, rapenbraders of blauwselmannen. De stad is ook bekend om haar marktplein, het grootste van België.
