Hill 60 is een authentiek gebied uit de 1e Wereldoorlog. De kunstmatige heuvel uit 1850 lag op zo’n 60 meter hoogte, vandaar de naam Hill 60. In de periode 14-18 werd hier hevig gevochten tussen de Duitsers en de Geallieerden. Beide groeven vanaf 1915 tunnels onder de heuvel waarin mijnen tot ontploffing werden gebracht. De explosie van de dieptemijnen op 7 juni 1917, zorgde voor het huidige landschap van Hill 60. Heel wat soldaten liggen nog steeds onder deze heuvel begraven.
