Lijn 156 van de RAVeL komt overeen met de vroegere spoorlijn 156 die Anor in Frankrijk verbond met Hastière via Chimay en Mariembourg. Het gedeelte Hermeton-sur-Meuse - Mariembourg werd in 1978 afgebroken. Een RAVeL-fiets- en wandelpad is aangelegd in asfalt op de route.
