Gelegen in het Condroz, ten zuiden van Ciney, net boven het natuurreservaat van Marie-Mouchon, bestaat de site uit een keten van 5 vijvers die zich binnen het bos van de Cresses bevinden. Deze wateren zijn eigendom van de gemeente Ciney en worden vrij extensief benut voor de hengelsport. Sommige hebben interessante vegetatie, met name randen van rietvelden en moerasachtige gebieden, evenals onderwaterplanten. De bovenste vijver, die regelmatig droogvalt, vertoont groepen van blootgestelde slibsoorten. Deze maakt deel uit van het natuurreservaat van de Plaine d'Ychippe, evenals enkele kleine aangrenzende percelen.
