Dit classistisch gebouw in Ruisbroek uit het begin van de 19de eeuw is opgetrokken naar het ontwerp van Ferdinand Berckmans. Het is een pareltje van burgerlijke architectuur met een opgaande gaanderij en opvallende rondboogarcaden. Sinds 1983 is het voormalig gemeentehuis een beschermd monument.
Tot 2009 vond Museum De Bres onderdak in dit prachtige gebouw. Vzw museum De Bres werd op 23 augustus 1976 opgericht om de herinnering levendig te houden aan alles wat Ruisbroek in de rampzalige januarimaand 1976 is overkomen. Na de restauratie van het gebouw in 2011, heeft de gemeente Puurs (nu Puurs-Sint-Amands) beslist het gebouw privé te verhuren.
