We wandelen een honderdtal meter op "Voetweg 38" langs de vijver van de IJse-club/ Neerijse om het vroegere hotel te zien. De vijvers, twee grote en enkele kleinere worden gevoed door bronnen.
De visvijver in de Kamstraat is door de brouwersfamilie Bruffaerts aangelegd in 1933. Oorspronkelijk was dit bedoeld als Neerijse plage ( strand). Chalet du Lac werd geopend in 1934 als een hotel restaurant. Men kon er verposen op het strand en vissen op de vijver. Er waren badhokjes en een springplank voor de zwemmers. Tijdens Wereld Oorlog II lag de exploitatie stil en werd nadien hervat. Na de bevrijding was een dochter van Winston Churchill er een regelmatige gast. In 1958, het jaar van de expo op de Heysel met het atomium, was een topjaar voor het hotel. In 1965 is het hotel restaurant gestopt. Het gebouw is er nog en is nu een woning.
