Het klooster Weißenstein was een rond 1137 gestichte collegiale stichting, vanaf 1145 een Augustijnenklooster, voor 1184 een monniken- en nonnenklooster en voor 1193 een puur nonnenklooster bij Kassel. Het viel onder de bescherming van de aartsbisschoppelijke stoel in Mainz of van de heilige Martinus. Voor de opheffing waren er weer monniken in het klooster ingetrokken. Het bevond zich op de plaats van het huidige kasteel Wilhelmshöhe.
