De vuurtoren Unterfeuer Blankenese vormt sinds 29 november 1984 samen met de vuurtoren Oberfeuer Blankenese de richtlijn Blankenese voor stroomopwaarts varende schepen. De eerste vuurtoren, die in 1984 werd gebouwd, was tot 2020 in gebruik en werd vervolgens door een andere vervangen en afgebroken, omdat de richtlijn in het kader van de verdieping van de Elbe met 600 m naar het zuidoosten werd verplaatst.
