Het Uettelsheimer Meer bevindt zich in de linkeroever van de Duisburger stadsdeel Baerl en is een recreatiegebied. In het oosten grenst het aan Homberg, in het westen aan de stad Moers en in het zuiden grenst het aan Hochheide.
Door zandafgraving ontstond een wateroppervlakte van 23 ha, waarvan de omgeving van 1969 tot 1992 werd ontwikkeld. Zo werden de oeverlijnen aangelegd, paden en een parklandschap gecreëerd en wurden terugtrekgebieden voor flora en fauna gecreëerd.
