Het kasteel Elsum is een waterkasteel ten westen van de Wassenberger stadswijk Birgelen. Zijn geschiedenis illustreert de typische ontwikkeling van Rijnlandse waterburchten: van een versterkte hof over een motte naar een tweedelige, door water omringde burcht die in de vroege moderne tijd werd omgebouwd tot een waterkasteel.
