De hoofd begraafplaats in Limburg aan de Lahn, opgericht in 1882, staat als geheel Nieuwe Begraafplaats onder monumentenzorg.
Nadat de dom begraafplaats te klein was geworden, werd in 1882 de Nieuwe Begraafplaats aangelegd. De aanleg vond plaats op een rechthoekig perceel op de Onderheide bij de Schafsberg, buiten de stad. De begraafplaats werd omsloten door een smeedijzeren hek. Dit werd in de Tweede Wereldoorlog verwijderd. Enkel de deuren van het hoofdportaal bleven behouden. In 1965/66 en 1985 vonden uitbreidingen van de begraafplaats plaats.
