Großtabarz was de officiële benaming voor het oostelijke historische dorpcentrum van Tabarz, nu Bad Tabarz, tot de vereniging van de twee delen Kleintabarz en Großtabarz. Großtabarz ligt ongeveer een kilometer ten oosten van de historische locatie van Cabarz, dat ook in de huidige plaats Tabarz is opgenomen. De geografische hoogte van de plaats bedraagt 400 m boven NAP.
