In vroegere tijden lag grote delen van het landschap ongecultiveerd. Het verkeer vond plaats over paden die werden onderhouden door de slijtage die paarden en wielen in het terrein veroorzaakten. Als het pad te veel was beschadigd, verplaatste het verkeer zich gewoon naar een pad ernaast. Dergelijke parallelle paden zijn 20 meter na de P-plaats aan de linkerkant te zien.
