Nyborg Slot is een van de favoriete residenties van de Deense koningen geweest. Na de Zweedse oorlogen in de jaren 1650 werd het uitgebreid tot een vesting met wallen en grote bastions, waarvan we vandaag de dag de resten kunnen ervaren. Op de Dronningens Bastion zijn vier 18-pond kanonnen, model 1753, te zien, vervaardigd naar originele tekeningen van het Tøjhusmuseum, evenals twee originele 84-pond zware granaatkanonnen, systeem 1834.
