Het kasteel van Monfragüe is een geruïneerde versterking, gelegen in het hart van het nationale park Monfragüe, binnen de Spaanse gemeente Torrejón el Rubio, provincie Cáceres, Extremadura.
De Arabieren veroverden deze gebieden in het jaar 713 en noemden het Al-Mofrag, wat "de afgrond" betekent. Het waren zij die hier in het jaar 811 de versterking bouwden op de resten van een oude vesting die aanvankelijk door de Kelten werd gebruikt om zich te verdedigen tegen de Romeinen, en later door de Romeinen zelf als strategisch uitkijkpunt werd gebruikt.
