Het spoorwegstation van Savonlinna is gelegen in de stad Savonlinna, Finland. Het ligt langs de spoorlijn Huutokoski–Parikkala, en het enige aangrenzende station is Pääskylahti in het westen. Toen de spoorlijn Savonlinna–Elisenvaara werd aangelegd, werd het station Savonlinna aan de westelijke rand van de stad geplaatst; dit kwam doordat het centrum van de stad zich op kleine, verspreide eilanden in het Saimaa-meer bevond en niet genoeg ruimte had voor een groot spoorwegemplacement. Om de gevolgen van dit probleem voor het passagiersvervoer te verlichten, werd op 15 oktober 1935 de halte Koululahti geopend aan de noordzijde van het stadscentrum. In 1944 werd het station bevorderd tot de status van een bemande halte, en in 1955 werd het hernoemd tot Savonlinna-Kauppatori, wat de ligging in het midden van de stad benadrukte.
