De machtige burcht (elfde eeuw) in Larochette, op een uitstekende rots, domineert het dal van de Ernz Blanche. Met Larochette is voorts nog iets totaal anders aan de hand. Het valt op als je langs het gezellige plein, de Bleiche, rijdt, of nog beter, er even stopt en de helm afzet. Van het plein is een regelrecht discussieforum gemaakt. Een tafereel dat je eerder in een zuidelijk land verwacht, maar niet hier! De verklaring is te vinden bij de bevolking: meer dan de helft van de inwoners van Larochette is namelijk van Portugese of Kaapverdische origine.
