Deze route loopt langs de 17 zuilen met historische informatie die deel uitmaken van het project De Canon van Enkhuizen. Dit project is verzorgd door de Stichting Kroniek van Enkhuizen in samenwerking met de gemeente Enkhuizen. Op elke zuil worden onderwerpen over de historie van Enkhuizen behandeld, te beginnen in 1572. Dit is het jaar waarin Enkhuizen als eerste stad in de Noordelijke Nederlanden het Spaanse juk van zich afschudde en voor de Prins van Oranje koos.
