La imponent Casa dos Carvalhos o Casa dos Mota Prego és una casa senyorial que té el seu origen en una primera torre construïda a l'Edat Mitjana , element important i comú en aquella època.
A mitjan el segle XVI, Gaspar de Carvalho, canceller del rei João III , va realitzar millores en l'edifici. Només a començament del segle XVIII es va construir la façana principal de la casa. L'edifici va ser renovat per darrera vegada entre finals del segle XVIII i principis del XIX.
