Gust Gils, 'Den indre urbanisering'
Neoklassisk bygning med florentinsk renæssance-inspiration (af stadsarkitekten Louis Roelandt) på stedet for det gamle Recollettenkloster, ved sammensmeltningen af Leie og Ketelvaart. Den monumentale 'Salle des pas perdus' gik tabt i den ødelæggende brand i 1926. Inden for poesiruten symbol for forsvaret af ofre og anklagede.
Gust Gils (1924-2002) flamsk prosa forfatter, digter og billedkunstner. Medstifter af det avantgarde tidsskrift Gard Sivik. Hans arbejde er samfundskritisk, satirisk og grotesk. Et udvalg af hans poesi i Mit pligtforsømte arbejde (1994), hans korte stykker 'paraproza' offentliggjorde han i en række bøger. Treårsprisen fra det flamske fællesskab 1996. Plastisk udformning af digtet af den belgiske kunstner Paul Van Gyseghem (1935)
