For nogle meter mod syd krydsede den romerske vej tidligere, formodentlig fra Batavia (Leiden), via Hoogstraten og Elewijt, gennem disse marker mod Waver, Namur til Trier.
Senere (14.-15. århundrede) var dette en del af den burgundiske nord-syd forbindelse fra Mechelen til Dijon og Zeeland.
