Inspireret af Trajansøjlen i Rom rejser Vendôme-søjlen sig op til 44 meter i centrum af en af de mest luksuriøse pladser i verden. Monumentet blev opført i 1810 på anmodning af Napoleon I som en hyldest til Grande Armée, der sejrede i slaget ved Austerlitz. Vendôme-søjlen, støbt i bronze fra 1200 kanoner fra den russiske og østrigske hær og dekoreret i antik stil, er en af de mest emblematiske historiske bygninger i hovedstaden.
