The Millennium Bridge, a pedestrian bridge, is a beautiful span. However, it was closed again two days after its opening for safety reasons. The bridge started to sway dangerously under the weight of the many pedestrians. Since February 2002, it has been passable again. It takes you straight to the imposing structure of the former Bankside Power Station. The power station, which was built in the early 1960s, was completely dismantled by the end of the century and now houses the modern art collection of the Tate Gallery: Tate Modern.
