La plaza renovada en 2019 frente al ayuntamiento de Ixelles es un placer para la vista y eso es justo lo que necesita este barrio tan densamente poblado. La plaza proporciona espacio para jugar, árboles, flores, fuentes y terrazas de café. Desde el antiguo castillo Malibran, el alcalde mantiene un ojo en lo que sucede. Este castillo fue una residencia de verano del violinista Charles-Auguste de Bériot y fue construido en 1833. Se estableció allí con su novia Maria Garcia Malibran, una famosa cantante. Tras la muerte de Maria en 1836, el castillo fue adquirido en 1849 por el municipio de Ixelles, que lo convirtió en el ayuntamiento.
