Henri-Jules de Bourbon-Condé (1643-1709) cumplió los últimos deseos de su padre Luis II de Bourbon-Condé y comenzó la construcción de la primera iglesia parroquial de Chantilly en 1687 según un diseño de Jules Hardouin Mansart. Terminada en 1691, la iglesia fue consagrada en marzo de 1692 con el título de "Notre-Dame de l'Assomption". Esta fecha marca el acto oficial de fundación de la ciudad de Chantilly. A partir de esta fecha, los registros parroquiales llevados por el párroco recogen los bautismos, los matrimonios y los entierros.
