La Piazza Papa Giovanni XIII en Pistoia es mejor conocida por el Ospedale del Ceppo.
Este es un antiguo hospital en Pistoia, fundado en el siglo XIII.
Según la leyenda, el nombre deriva de un tocón que floreció milagrosamente en invierno y que, según una aparición de la Virgen María, señaló a los piadosos maridos Antimo y Bendinella el lugar para fundar el hospital. Otra posibilidad es que el nombre se haya derivado del "tocón" hueco de la castaña que se usa para recolectar ofrendas.
Fue hospital de la ciudad hasta el 21 de julio de 2013, cuando fue reemplazado por el nuevo Hospital San Jacopo, ubicado en la zona sur de la ciudad.
