Gaasterland es una región en la esquina suroeste de la provincia neerlandesa de Frisia. Está situada en el municipio de De Friese Meren. Los antiguos municipios de Gaasterland-Sloten y Nijefurd son parte de Gaasterland. Gaasterland se encuentra en el Paisaje Nacional Suroeste de Frisia. La región es, a diferencia del carácter predominantemente llano de Frisia, colina y boscosa. Estos relieves solían llamarse gaasten. Son montículos de arcilla, elevados durante la era del hielo Saalien, cubiertos con una capa de arena. Debido a las dunas de arena aquí y en otros lugares de los Países Bajos, la Administración Estatal de Bosques plantó el área alrededor de 1900 con bosques. Los montículos de arcilla eran una defensa natural contra el agua del Zuiderzee y lo siguen siendo para el IJsselmeer. En Gaasterland hay tres acantilados: Roode Klif, Mirnser Klif y Oudemirdumer Klif. Entre los montículos de arcilla hay varias zonas de drenaje: Wielpolder, Huitebuursterpolder, Huitebuersterbûtenpolder y la Zuiderfennenspolder.
