La antigua estación de transmisión Radio Kootwijk es un faro en medio de la naturaleza de Veluwe. Desde esta antigua estación de transmisión se mantenía contacto con las Indias Neerlandesas en el siglo pasado.
La tranquilidad, el espacio y la oscuridad rodean el llamativo diseño del arquitecto Julius Maria Luthmann. Le dan al complejo arquitectónico una dimensión especial.
Tras la desaparición de la función de transmisión, KPN Telecom vendió en 2003 los edificios y las 400 hectáreas de naturaleza circundante al Estado. Diferentes gobiernos están ahora colaborando para encontrar un nuevo destino para este complejo único y vulnerable.
