Le manoir Harkotten von Korff a été construit en 1806 par l’architecte Adolf von Vagedes (1777 – 1842) pour le compte du couple marié Friedrich-Anton et Rosine Frhr. et Frfr. von Korff zu Harkotten dans le style classique.
Dans les années 1814 – 1816, le peintre de la cour de Rietberg, Philipp Ferdinand Ludwig Bartscher (1749 – 1823), a été chargé de la conception picturale des murs intérieurs de tout le rez-de-chaussée du manoir.
En raison de l’ensemble des peintures murales architecturales contemporaines et de l’importance régionale de l’artiste Rietberg, l’aménagement intérieur du bâtiment historique mérite d’être préservé et d’intérêt public. Le HerrHarkotten a été reconnu comme monument d’importance nationale en 2017.
