Lesse è uno dei 31 quartieri della città indipendente di Salzgitter nel Bassa Sassonia, situata nel comune di Nordwest. Fino al 31 marzo 1942, Lesse faceva parte del distretto di Wolfenbüttel ed è diventata parte della grande città di Watenstedt-Salzgitter attraverso un atto amministrativo il 1 aprile 1942. Il 23 gennaio 1951 è stata ufficialmente rinominata Salzgitter.
Lesse è stata menzionata per la prima volta in un documento nel 1022. Già intorno al 1400, il luogo era composto da 90 fattorie. Nel 1543, il luogo fu saccheggiato dalle truppe di Brunswick e completamente distrutto. Nel 1529, 1597 e 1598, molti abitanti di Lesse furono vittime della peste.
