Questo obelisco è stato realizzato in Pietra Blu di Walheim ed è stato eretto nel 1810 (durante l'occupazione francese) in memoria di Pauline Bonaparte, una sorella di Napoleone Bonaparte (che in realtà si chiama Charlotte). Rimase per alcuni anni nel vicino monastero trappista di Bergerbusch.
Gli obelischi sono stati utilizzati (già prima dai romani) per misurare il territorio.
Il vecchio obelisco è stato ampiamente ristrutturato. Forma un impressionante punto panoramico sulla città di Aquisgrana e punto di partenza per una passeggiata attraverso la Wurmtal, il Paulinewald e il Weißen Weg.
Durante il rinnovamento eur regionale nel 2008 sono state installate sedute che ricordano una chaise longue su cui lo scultore italiano Antonio Canova ha ritratto Pauline Bonaparte-Borghese come Venere.
