Il quartiere minerario di Hervest è stato costruito nel 1912 tra l'attuale Halterner Straße e il fiume Lippe: sul lato est è stato creato il quartiere cattolico con la Scuola di Giuseppe e la Chiesa di Giuseppe, mentre sul lato ovest si trova il quartiere protestante con la Scuola di Augusta e l'attuale Chiesa della Croce.
Oggi le miniere sono chiuse e il lavoro non è più davanti alla porta di casa. “Il nuovo utilizzo dell'area mineraria e la creazione di posti di lavoro sostenibili sono una grande sfida”, ammette Lütkenhorst, che il cambiamento strutturale non ha ancora avuto l'impatto desiderato. Tuttavia, non si dovrebbe parlare male del quartiere di Hervest: grazie a ristrutturazioni e modernizzazioni, il quartiere ha sviluppato un suo fascino unico.
