Op het Carlos Dierickxplein houden we halt bij de 16de-eeuwse arduinsteen Kwintie, rechts ingewerkt in een reconstructie van een feodale vierschaar, een oude vorm van rechtspraak die in openlucht plaatsvond. In het midden staat het wapenschild van St.Baafs. St.-Martinus Asper stond onder het patronaat van de St.Baafsabdij van Gent. Carlos Dierickx, bijna een halve eeuw burgemeester van Asper, en Gavere na de fusie, heeft zijn standbeeld op zijn plein.
De oude Romaanse St.-Martinus-kerktoren van Asper dateert uit de 12de eeuw.
