Het Geo-Naturpark Bergstraße-Odenwald werd opgenomen in het "International Geoscience & Geoparks Program" van UNESCO in 2015 en draagt dus de "UNESCO Global Geopark" award. Het combineert een charmant landschap dat zich uitstrekt over een oppervlakte van 3500 vierkante kilometer tussen het UNESCO Werelderfgoed Pit Messel in het noorden, het Rijndal in het westen over het Odenwald tot het bouwterrein in het oosten en het Neckar-dal in het zuiden.
