Kanalen løber fra Hoge Vaart mod sydøst og slutter i Hulkesteinse Skov ved Wielse Tocht. Kanalen og den tilstødende strækning fungerer som en økologisk forbindelse mellem den ene side, Hoge Vaart, og den anden side, Hulkesteinse Skov og det tilstødende Horsterwold. I lidt mindre skala danner Rassenbeektocht også den økologiske forbindelse mellem to naturområder, der grænser op til kanalen, Gorzenveld mod nordøst ved Gooisevej og Gruttoveld, som ligger cirka halvvejs mod sydvest ved Rassenbeektocht. Områderne forvaltes af Het Flevolandschap.
