Die Zweite Schlacht um Zürich fand am 25. und 26. September 1799 in Zürich während des Zweiten Koalitionskrieges statt. Sie konnte den Stillstand, der aus der Ersten Schlacht um Zürich drei Monate zuvor resultierte, zugunsten der Franzosen brechen.
Nach der Ersten Schlacht um Zürich war die Alte Eidgenossenschaft zwischen den Franzosen und den Österreichern aufgeteilt. Die Fronten verliefen auf einer Linie Unterlauf der Aare-Limmat-Albiskette-Urnersee. Am 14. August 1799 traf eine russische Armee unter General Alexander Rimski-Korsakow in Schaffhausen ein. Erzherzog Karl, der Bruder des Kaisers des Heiligen Römischen Reiches, Franz II., wollte mit Rimski-Korsakow zusammen die Franzosen unter General André Masséna in der Zentralschweiz einkesseln. In der Nacht vom 16. auf den 17. August sollten sich 20.000 Infanteristen und 1.600 Kosaken unter Rimski-Korsakow mit den 23.000 Infanteristen und 6.000 Kavalleristen von Erzherzog Karl bei Oberendingen treffen.
