Bad Frankenhausen/Kyffhäuser ist eine Kur- und Erholungsstadt im thüringischen Kyffhäuserkreis. Die Kleinstadt hat etwa 10.000 Einwohner.
Die Kleinstadt liegt am Südhang des Kyffhäusergebirges, auf Sedimenten des Zechstein, in einer Höhe zwischen 130 und 190 m ü. NN, über der lössbedeckten Diamantenen Aue. Der Zechsteinuntergrund enthält auch Kali- und Steinsalze. In der Frankenhäuser Saline wurden täglich 250 Tonnen Steinsalz produziert.
