Der ausgeschilderte Wanderweg Nr. 7 ist für einen langen Ausflug genau richtig. Zur Motivation startet man am besten mit einem erfrischenden Rundgang im Kneipp-Tretbecken hinter dem Thermalsolbad Salzgitter-Bad. Dann führen Feld- und Waldwege über den Schäferstuhl am südöstlichen Waldrand entlang bis nach Liebenburg. Am dortigen Forsthaus stehen interessante Informationstafeln zur Fauna und Flora. Wieder zurück Richtung Salzgitter-Bad geht es östlich des Golfplatzes entlang. Man kann an belebten Tagen hier viele Sportler bei ihren Aktionen beobachten. Auf dem Weg bekommt man auch einige der Kunstwerke des Projekts "Straße des Friedens" zu sehen.
