Das Schloss wurde zwischen 1519 und 1534 von Jeanne de Balsac, der Dame von Montal, auf einer Anhöhe über dem Tal der Dordogne errichtet. Dieses nie fertiggestellte Meisterwerk der Renaissance zeichnet sich durch seinen außergewöhnlichen Reichtum an Skulpturen aus, die eines königlichen Palastes würdig sind. Eine monumentale Treppe. Wandteppiche und Möbel aus dem 16. und 17. Jahrhundert. Renaissance-Innenhof.
