Nach dem Großen Preis der Türkei führte Jenson Button die Fahrerwertung mit 26 Punkten vor Rubens Barrichello und 32 Punkten vor Sebastian Vettel an. Brawn-Mercedes führte in der Konstrukteurswertung mit 39,5 Punkten vor Red Bull-Renault und mit 63,5 Punkten vor Toyota.
