Es dauerte zwei Jahre, bis das erste Album, das in Toronto aufgenommen wurde, erschien. Die leicht ins Ohr gehende Single 'Solsbury Hill' klang sofort ganz anders als Genesis. Es ist ein autobiografisches Lied über eine spirituelle Erfahrung auf der Spitze des Solsbury Hill. "Das Lied handelt vom Loslassen, von der Bereitschaft, das, was man hat, zu verlieren, vom Verlangen nach dem, was man dafür bekommt", sagte Gabriel.
