Am 28. November 1655 bot Bologna ein gigantisches Spektakel für Königin Christina von Schweden, die ihre Reise nach Rom unterbrach. Auf der Piazza Maggiore, vom Palazzo d'Accursio auf der Westseite bis zum Fischmarkt (heute Via Pecherie Vecchie) auf der Ostseite, wurde ein temporäres Theater in Form eines riesigen Schiffes errichtet. Der Ruhm der Stadt wurde in einem allegorischen Theaterstück gefeiert. Die Show endete mit einem Turnier im klassischen römischen Stil.
