Gronsveld ist ein Ort in der Gemeinde Eijsden-Margraten im südwestlichen Teil der niederländischen Provinz Limburg. Im Norden liegt die Gemeinde Maastricht und im Süden befinden sich die Orte Eijsden und Rijckholt. Am 1. Januar 2021 hatte Gronsveld laut der Gemeinde 2.920 Einwohner. Gronsveld hieß zuvor Groesselt oder Grousselt. Das erste s war ein kurzes, für uns normales s, das als Endbuchstabe verwendet wurde, und das zweite war ein ſ, ein langes s, das an anderen Stellen in einem Wort verwendet wurde. Das kurze s stand am Ende der ersten Silbe und das ſ am Anfang der zweiten Silbe. Durch falsches Lesen oder Abschreiben ist man hier Gronsfelt und später Gronsveld geworden.
